Sac Aktun, located next to Tulum Mexico, is the second biggest underwater cave system in the world with 244 kilometers of cave passages, incredible geological formations, white walls, crystal clear waters and stunning formations.

If you are a diver, you can start by entering through Gran Cenote or Calavera, both beautiful caverns. If you are a little more experienced, try Pet Cemetery entrance, which is also very fragile, so perfect buoyancy control is required in order not to damage anything.

Hundreds of stalactites will enchant you and give you time to adore this place, since you will have to move slowly. There are beautiful cenotes in Sac Aktun also perfect for snorkeling – you should talk to your guide to find which one is best for you!

Take a day or two and simply relax. Bacalar town itself is an officially recognized Magic Mexican Town that surrounds you with 16th century charm. It’s about 2.5 hours away from Tulum.

The tourism was able to start developing because of cruise ships that regularly pass by, but it is still a pristine and unspoiled Caribbean jewel. It’s about 3 – 2.5 hour drive from Tulum to Mahahual.
